Dr. Kornberg was born and raised in Melbourne Australia. He studied veterinary science at the University of Melbourne and completed a rotating internship at Queensland Veterinary Specialists, followed by a Neurology and Neurosurgery residency at Mississippi State University. Since then, he has practiced in both Miami and New York. Dr. Kornberg has extensive experience in all aspects of neurology including seizures, spinal issues, congenital malformations, head trauma, brain tumors, and inflammatory conditions.
In addition to being an expert in both medical neurology and neurosurgery, he is extensively trained in the use of cavitronic ultrasonic aspiration which aids in the removal of brain and spinal tumors with minimal tissue trauma and bleeding. This allows for a greater amount of resection of both intra and extraxial tumors, while sparing blood vessels. He also is trained in intraoperative ultrasound guided interventions, which allow for access to tumors which are located within the brain parenchyma. Dr Kornberg utilizes an operating microscope when needed, to give the best possible visualization through the smallest openings, minimizing trauma and maximizing removal of tumor or disk compression. Dr Kornberg works closely with the radiation oncology service as the Neuro-Oncology service, providing gold standard multimodal therapy for cancers of the nervous system. Dr Kornberg is also experienced and passionate about surgical treatment for Chiari-Like malformation.
He lives with his partner Samantha, his dogs, Monterrey and Freddie, and his cat, Thomas.
