Dr Forbes received his BA in psychology from the University of Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA) in 1997 and worked in the human services field supporting adults with developmental disabilities for a number of years before going back to school and earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College (Guelph, ON) in 2008.

Following a small animal rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle (2008-2009), Dr Forbes remained at the hospital as part of the Emergency Service team. After several years in this role, Dr Forbes transitioned into a residency in Emergency and Critical Care with joint training at VCA Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle and Colorado State University. The intensive residency training and certifying examination were completed in 2015 and Dr Forbes achieved specialist status as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. He has been in Connecticut since 2015 and established the first and only veterinary hemodialysis unit in the state. Dr Forbes has many years of clinical experience in a veterinary hemodialysis unit and has completed advanced certification through the UC Davis Hemodialysis Academy.

Dr Forbes joined The Veterinary Care Center in 2019 to provide high quality care to our clients and their beloved pets while supporting the relationship with their family veterinarian.

Professional interests include veterinary renal replacement therapy (hemodialysis), acute kidney injury, sepsis, and educating veterinarians in emergency and critical care topics. Outside of the hospital, Dr Forbes enjoys spending time with family, playing hockey, scuba diving, and is an active firefighter in the Easton Volunteer Fire Company.
